Lister Mill is perhaps one of Bradford finest mill complexes. With the failure of the businesses located within the buildings they had gradually fallen into disrepair and indeed serious concerns were raised around constructive vandalism of the property through the removal of the stone flagstones on the floors and indeed other features.

The complex which was a world famous silk mill is imposing on the Bradford skyline and the visual blight of this imposing complex could have been very detrimental to the City and the Manningham community living immediately around it.

It was clear early on that it would not be possible to utilise all of the buildings.

Services Provided

Atam was retained by Yorkshire Forward and the Council to investigate the potential re-use of the mill complex. This involved consideration of different uses of the separate elements of a mill complex and coming up with a mix that could work.

It was quickly decided that a buyer needed to be found for the complex as the owners were in financial difficulties and Atam was instrumental in pulling together a market pack and attracting the attention of Urban Splash, who acquired the building.

Atam was then involved in assisting the Council with respect to providing funding support for the development.

The image shows the penthouse apartments which have been added to the roof of the Mill complex which add a striking modern element to these outstanding buildings.
