Living in Loftus
Town Centre Regeneration and Masterplanning
Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council
Overview
AspinallVerdi led a multi-disciplinary team including JDDK Architects, Fore Consulting and Rider Hunt to prepare a regeneration strategy for this small town in the east of the Borough of Redcar. The town suffers from a number of derelict and under-utilised sites, whilst having an attractive environmental setting and quality heritage buildings. The town is located close to the North Yorkshire
Coastal Path and is where the ‘Saxon Princess’ was found.
Scope
The project involved identification and consideration of key sites which will play a critical role in regenerating the town. Consultations took place with key stakeholders, community groups and local people.
Proposals were drawn up for the selected sites, with an objective of addressing dereliction or under-utilisation. It was also important to consider how further private sector investment could be secured.
Outputs
A baseline analysis report and delivery strategy was provided, which included:
Clear costings provided for proposed
projects
Key priorities together with identified finding
